Proverbs 12:10 "A righteous man cares for the needs of his
                                animal,"

We are a not a kennel. We are a small breeding/show home. We love our dogs, and our puppies (even before they are born). With only 5 dogs our Havanese are still part of our family. We are small but we have a professional attitude. We believe in breeding to improve the breed. We breed for quality not quantity. We have 4 children to help us socialize our puppies and help with the daily upkeep of our havanese. Our kids actually still help with the dogs! Our havanese are a continual source of joy and entertainment for our family. We love our dogs! Our vet's office is close by. We are very thankful for the good care and advice they give us. We believe only the vet should give vaccines to our pets and leave it to the pros!

They got tired of waiting and fell asleep at the vets in the large container I brought them in.

We are new to the AKC Havanese world and are planning on placing most of our puppies as pets with limited registration. Our plan is to study and watch our puppies develop in pet homes to determine where we should be heading with our breeding program. Each breeding pair is carefully selected with an eye on temperament, conformation, health, and beauty. We would like to place our puppies in loving homes that are willing to give us updates as to the growth, development, and health of our puppies. We will always be ready to answer questions, support the new owners, and hopefully baby-sit our furbaby grandchildren while you are on vacation.

Every breeding undertaken here is done for a specific reason. Our females didn't ask to be pregnant and we don't breed to sell puppies for profit. I don't sell puppies for breeding purposes only. I have only placed one pup on full registration. I placed this pup with a serious dedicated hobbyist and our pup quickly finished her championship.

I do everything the way I would want it to be done for me. If I were buying another puppy I would want one that is healthy, well socialized, loved, protected, beautiful, clean and parasite free, bred from parents that passed health screening, and temperament tested and suitable for my family.

All of our dogs used for breeding will have an OFA passing hip exam of good or excellent, and current eye certification. There are so many havanese available don't buy one that's parents may be unhealthy or carrying genetic problems. Also don't support the puppy mill industry by buying one of their puppies. We love our puppies and will carefully screen our puppy buyers. To further protect our furbabies from unscrupulous backyard breeders, brokers, pet stores, and puppy mills we spay or neuter all puppies placed on limited registration before the puppies leave our home. We do this at no cost to our puppy buyers. I finally got the link to the early spay/neuter site. Click on early spay neuter below and start researching. You'll be impressed!

Early Spay Neuter web page!

It is my hope that I and my dogs will be a positive influence on the breed. I hope in 10 years I'm one of the majority of Havanese breeders doing the early spay neuter. The Havanese breed has been blessed with many breeders that do health screenings and are truly interested in breeding to improve. Ethical breeders are always researching the latest trends in health, medical problems,  and care of our animals. If any other breeders want to call me or email to find out more about the positive experiences I've had with early spay neuter I'd be glad to answer your questions.

Our pups are actually seen by our vet at day 55 of gestation for a prenatal check of the dam and a x-ray to check the number, size, and position of the puppies before birth. This information is helpful in determining if it will be a problem delivery. It's also nice to know when labor is over by counting the puppies compared to the number of puppies on the x-ray. As soon as the pups are 24 to 48 hours old they go to the vet for dew-claw removal and a complete checkup. The dam is also checked out to make sure she isn't retaining any placenta or puppies. After the all clear we return home to our quiet puppy nursery right by my bedroom. I normally sleep with my Moms and her puppies until I'm sure they are off to a good start. The puppies remain near me until their eyes open. They are handled and loved from birth. They are never dehydrated or go without anything they need. I'm constantly weighing, feeling the skin and making sure they are breathing those first few days. Then after the eyes open they move to our busy kitchen to begin exploring the world with all of their senses!

The vet is one of the 1st people our pups see!

Our puppies are never worried about the vet. They love attention!

At the 6 week check up the vet goes over the pups and listens for heart murmurs, checks the ears, nose, mouth and general health of the puppies. At this time I ask the vet any questions about a particular puppy I may have and get an expert opinion. I am always learning something new about puppy care and I will always have a question. We also talk about when to schedule the next visit and what I can expect at that visit. It's very much like a pediatrician visit with a child. I never bring in notes to remind myself of what I was going to ask. I sometimes forget something so take notes and ask lots of questions!

The 3rd trip to the vet is at 6 weeks.
